The decisions shaping our communities are becoming increasingly complex. From changes in state laws affecting local governments to questions about public spending, housing, development, and political accountability, these issues have real consequences for the places we call home.
At the same time, political rhetoric has grown more intense, and social media often rewards conflict over understanding. Important public policy discussions can become reduced to competing headlines, partisan positions, and incomplete information.
Common Ground Miami was created to offer a different approach: clear information, meaningful context, and thoughtful perspectives on the issues affecting Miami-Dade and Florida.
We believe informed communities make better decisions, and that constructive dialogue remains possible even when we disagree.

Common Ground Miami envisions a community where residents understand the decisions affecting their lives, feel confident asking questions, and recognize that meaningful civic engagement begins with good information.
A community where disagreement doesn't prevent constructive conversation, and where facts, accountability, and shared interests matter more than political labels.
In this community:

This work aims to provide accessible, nonpartisan explanations and thoughtful commentary on the policies, decisions, and institutions shaping Miami-Dade and Florida.
The goal is to move beyond headlines and political rhetoric to help readers better understand not just what is happening, but why it matters.
What you'll find here:
Grounded in facts. Informed by context. Open to different perspectives.
Common Ground Miami is an independent civic publication founded on the belief that good government begins with an informed and engaged public.
Created from the perspective of a Miami resident, homeowner, and civically engaged professional, the publication draws on years of experience working with communities of all sizes throughout Florida in urban planning, redevelopment, and local government. That experience provides a firsthand understanding of how public decisions are made, the challenges communities face, and how those decisions affect the places people call home.
Common Ground Miami is guided by curiosity, respect for differing perspectives, and a willingness to question decisions regardless of political affiliation. The goal isn't to tell readers what to think, but to offer facts, context, and thoughtful analysis that help them reach their own conclusions.
The views expressed here are personal and do not represent those of any employer or public agency.
